Description

Some DDNS servers require the connection parameters to be included directly in the URL. This article will describe how to use wildcards when connecting to a custom-type DDNS.

Requirement

 ● Milesight RoutersUR3x with firmware version 3x.0.0.7-r4 and later

 ● Milesight Gateways: UG56 with firmware version 56.0.0.5 and later, UG65/67 with firmware version 60.0.0.45 and later

Configuration

Step 1: Correctly configure the original connection parameters provided by the DDNS service on the router’s web interface.

Username: test

Password: password

Server: test.com

Server Path: http://test.com/upd.php?user=USER&pwd=PASS&host=HOST

Step2: Replace the corresponding parameters in the original Path with the following wildcards.

%h: hostname

%i: ip address

%u: username

%p: password

%0: domain name

%1: subdomain

For example, in the appeal case, the replaced Server Path is:

http://test.com/upd.php?user=%u&pwd=%p&host=%h

Step 3: Contact Milesight IoT Support

If you have replaced the parameters in the path with wildcards as described in Step 2 and the connection still fails, follow the steps below to collect logs after the connection fails and share them with Milesight IoT Support.
