Description

It is generally more difficult to read devices with an iPhone using ToolBox compared to Android phones. This is because the NFC antenna on the iPhone is smaller and positioned more inward. However, as long as you find the right spot, it can usually read devices normally. This article uses the Milesight WS523, which is relatively difficult to read, as an example to demonstrate how to use ToolBox on an iPhone to read Milesight devices.

Requirement

 ● iPhone series cell phones

 ● ToolBox app

 ● Milesight sensors with NFC module, using the WS523 as an example

Steps

Step 1: Confirm the location of the iPhone NFC antenna

 1.  Normally, the NFC area on an iPhone is located at the top of the device. Below is a diagram showing the NFC antenna locations for different iPhone models.(The position of the NFC antenna is basically the same across different models.)

 2.  From the front view of the iPhone, the NFC antenna is located in the top navigation bar area. Below is a diagram for reference.

Step 2: Confirm the location of the Milesight sensor's NFC module

The NFC module of most Milesight sensors is located at the “Milesight” logo. Here, the NFC reading position of the WS523 is used as an example.

Step 3: Using ToolBox on iPhone to read a Milesight sensor

1.Open the ToolBox app and tap the "Read" button.

2.Place the top navigation bar area of the iPhone against the NFC module area of the Milesight sensor. Here, the WS523 is used as an example.

Note: It is best to remove the phone case when reading the device with an iPhone, as this will make it easier to read.
