UG67 Installation on the bsse of the tower/pole and antenna on top of tower/pole

Hi,

Is it a common practice to install the UG67 at the base of the pole,or tower and the antena/s at the top?. I ask this question because sometimes the  poles or towers do not suppot the weight of the gateway. Are there some recommendation about it?

The advantaje of this practice is  that we simplify the installation and maintenance and reducing the wind charge on the tower or pole. The disadvantage is that we have an aditional loosing introduced by the coax , but in many cases could be negligible.

If this posibility is supported, we could use indoor gateways with external antennas reducing the cost of the projects.

Thanks in advance

Hi Alberto Dimerman,

Thank you for contacting Milesight-IoT Support Team.

The correct installation method for the UG67 is shown in the image below. Use the backplate provided by Milesight to keep a proper distance between the two antennas to avoid mutual interference, which could affect the base noise.

If the pole in your deployment scenario cannot support the installation, then the only option would be to install the gateway elsewhere and extend the antennas to mount them on the pole. However, please ensure that there is no metal obstruction around the antennas, as it could cause signal shielding.

If possible, could you provide a photo of the deployment scenario you have in mind? If your antenna extension cables are too long, it could also affect the gateway's performance.

Thank you veru much for your promt answer.

I don´t have the pofibility toprovide a photo. We are in the planning phase. In case on need it. I will test this kind of  installation, I will send the pictures and the measurements regarding coverage.

Thank you very much,

Alberto
