Package filter

Hello,

I'm using a UG63 Gateway and would like to configure a package filter to keep data usage as low as possible.

I configured a whitelist for NetID, JoinEUI and DevEUI.

For JoinEUI I set a range of 3 sensors.

When I check my Lorawan Networkserver (The Things Stack) I see more sensor packages got forwarded than I put in the filter.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

Best regards

Hi Martin,

Thanks for contacting Milesight-IoT Support Team.

Note that these three filtering options do not filter the same packets:

JoinEUI and DevEUI exist only for sensor join requests, so these two filtering options are used to filter specific sensor requests to the Network Server(NS).

NetID exists for regular uplinks from sensors, which is downlinked by the NS. It is used to filter out packets that are not from your own NS to be forwarded by the gateway, because the gateway forwards all incoming packets in packet forwarding mode, during which packets from unknown sensors may be received.

If your sensor has joined your NS, it is recommended at this point that you need to work with NetID to filter uplink packets from other sensors that have not been added to your NS.

Best Regards,
