Description
Noise analyzer is used for scanning the noise of every frequency channel and giving a diagram for users to analyze the environment interference condition and select best deployment. RSSI indicates the sensitivity for every channel. Lower the RSSI value, better the signal. It’s not suggested to always enable this feature when using package forwarder since it will affect the downlink transmission. You can refer to this video tutorial or below steps to know how to use this feature:
Requirement
Any Milesight UG6x Gateway with latest version of firmware
Configuration
Navigate to Packet Forwarder -> Radios -> Noise Analyzer to set up Noise Analyzer.
Noise Analyzer: Enable/Disable noise analyzer
Sweep Freq: Select the frequency you need to analysis. If there is no other situation, it’s recommended to set to Genaral Freq
Start and Stop Freq: Can be set from 0.1 to 999.9 MHz.
Freq Span: Can be set from 0.1 to 1.
Sweep Time: Set the sweep time, can be set from 1 to 10000 hours or continuous sweep.
Note: The line chart can supports showing at most 255 frequency point, Sweep Freq and Freq Span must fit this limitation. For example, if Freq Span is set to 0.1, the maximum range of Sweep Freq is 25.5 MHz, like 902.3 - 927.8MHz. More frequencies will cost more time for each sweep. If there is nothing changed after you click OK, probably means your setting is above the maximum value.
Click OK to apply
Example
After few sweep, you can see the sensitivity of gateway to each frequency in this diagram. Blue line for current value, orange line for average value, you can click the notes above diagram to hide or show particular values.
The average value present signal condition at normal situation, it is make more sense if you run analyzer for a long time.
The current value present signal condition right now, you can check if signal condition changed by current value.
This diagram will show at particular frequency, gateway can receive what strength signal. For example, in below diagram, we can see at 902.5MHz, gateway can only receive signal above -40 RSSI, means this frequency is pretty congestion, and easily be interference. The ideally signal range is less than -100, means gateway can receive very weak signal from sensor. RSSI less than -70 means gateway can receive signal normally.
From this example diagram, you can see 902.7 - 903.7 and 905.7 - 906.5 is slightly better than other frequency, the sensor within this range can send signal to gateway at a greater distance. You can change the default frequency in gateway and sensor for better signal according the diagram.
